About Joanne Gardner
I coach my clients toward thoughtful food selection and meal preparation to improve health and well being. I consider the matrix of factors that influence nourishment: from the source of the foods to the what, where, when, and how food is purchased, prepared, and consumed. I listen and assess my client’s symptoms, concerns and health history. We work together to develop customized action steps and identify strategies to move towards an active, well nourished and healthy lifestyle. I have completed integrative, functional and sports nutrition trainings, am a Certified LEAP Food Hypersensitivity Therapist and am a member of the Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Medicine, a sub-group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. I am committed to living an active, integrative lifestyle including exercise, mindfulness and yoga. I am a yoga teacher, registered with the Yoga Alliance. Before coming to Duke, I worked in a outpatient clinic, as well as independently, providing nutrition consultation and education services in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I also served as an adjunct faculty member in the Human Biology department at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. I relocated to Chapel Hill in 2013.
